Black Student Union
The Black Student Union was founded on values such as education, empowerment, and diversity. One of our goals is to stimulate an appreciation, awareness, and development of African American culture and heritage. With your donations, we will provide more opportunities to engage with and learn from each other. Your support will also help BSU members prepare for post-graduate endeavors. We will also engage in efforts to give back to the underrepresented minority youth in the West Philadelphia community. Donations will also help current BSU students who have an emergency financial need.
Youth Career Exploration Program: Goal - $500.00
Your support will allow us to engage in opportunities to visit a local middle school to teach about STEM careers to encourage them pursue such careers. Your donations will provide money for supplies, incentives for participation, refreshments and transportation.
BSU Professional Development Series: Goal - $2,000
In Spring 2021, we started #CareerGoals, a professional development series for BSU members. Speakers led topics on financial planning, applying to grad school, interviewing skills and other topics to help us prepare for life after graduation. Donations to support this fund will go toward gifts for the speakers, giveaways for participants, refreshments for in-person workshops, and other costs related to hosting the series.
Supporting Our Peeps: Goal - $5,000
Financial challenges can present themselves from time to time, and BSU students often have no place to turn. Donations will support students who are facing an emergency financial difficulty which may involve housing, food, transportation or other essential living expenses.
